Vaccine Visibility System (VVS)

A web application to manage vaccine inventory for EPI Unit under the Ministry of health in the Gambia. The system aims at managing the tracking and tracing of vaccines from point of entry (Central EPI Store) down to the vaccination point which is Health Facility. VVS is one of the few stock management applications that effectively make a sure of barcode (2D barcode) scanning during receiving and dispatching of vaccines and diluents.

This initiative was first supported by Pfizer in 2017 under supervision of PATH Seattle Office that we managed to run a pilot project in 4 sites (Central EPI Store, 2 regional stores and 1 Health Facility) using VVS Ver.1 which proved to be successfully, later it was proceeded by developing Vaccine Visibility System (VVS) Ver. 2, this was supported by Gavi under supervision of PATH Seattle Office since Mid 2018 to date.

The system is functional and operational in 40 facilities (including Central EPI Store, regional vaccines stores and health facilities) in the Gambia. Currently, MonitAfrica is developing a mobile App that will support stock management operations to be implemented in Non-VVS health Facilities in the Gambia to enhance vaccines stock controls in the country.
